I began to ride horses before I learned to walk or talk. Getting to know horses at the pre-verbal stage was a blessing that allowed me to intuitively resonate with these wonderful animals. Growing up in the silent world of horses where understanding is experiential, it was a natural progression for my work as a Craniosacral Therapist with humans to spill over into my yard and barn!
The animals have responded in a phenomenal way, so much so that it is important to me to pass on the experience and knowledge I have gained pioneering in the development of craniosacral work for animals. The result is my ECST book, Tuning-In: Equine Craniosacral Therapy and Somato-Emotional Release.
With a background in animal science and massage therapy, I began studying craniosacral therapy in 1983, with renowned physicians in the complementary healthcare professions. After working with human clients for a year, I began using the same techniques on horses and dogs. In applying ECST to horses, I made some modifications to the human techniques, and innovated new ones specific with horses. I maintain a private practice in Shepherdstown, WV where I continue to develop and refine clinical applications for my human, equine and canine clientele.
